You are greater than you thought.
(Text: Yang Shuyan / General Manager of Process Pro Brand Taiwan)
The other day I read a very useful book: "Underlying Logic", written by the famous Chinese business consultant Liu Yun, who mentioned:The nature of every person and enterprise is partnership. If we want to get higher income and more growth in the company, we have to understand the relationship between ourselves and the company first, so that we can treat our work with a more serious and proper attitude and realize our own value. When we think clearly about this underlying logic and open our minds, we will not underestimate ourselves and will be able to work with the company with the attitude of a partner.
There were three different occasions this week, but they all brought me to the same conclusion.
On second thought, I think it is worth sharing with you.
Last weekend, as I was preparing for the upcoming forum, I went to a well-known body shop that I frequent to take care of my body and to relieve my tense emotions. My familiar esthetician was not there that day, but she asked another friendly colleague to take care of me. However, during the process, one of the district managers kept interrupting my treatment, entering and exiting the salon frequently, and making a lot of noise. I was already very uncomfortable after a whole week of labor, but the constant interruptions gave me a splitting headache. I was so weak that I asked the service technician to respond, but the technician said timidly that she was in a lower position and did not dare to convey the matter to her supervisor in such a way. But what I thought was that even a small staff member should be able to bravely challenge the authority for the sake of the company's image, the brand's interests, and the customers' feelings, right? This is one of the reasons.
Whose responsibility is employer branding? The CEO, the head of HR, or the head of brand?
The Employer Branding Forum, organized by us on Tuesday, was held immediately after the event. After the informative seminar, a QA session was held, during which a question was sent to the speakers: If you really want to implement employer branding, whose responsibility is it? Is it the CEO's responsibility? Or is it the head of HR (Human Resource)? Or is it the brand manager? Martin, our founder, asked the audience, and 80% of them said it was the CEO's job, while only a small percentage thought it was the responsibility of the HR and brand manager respectively. However, the speakers on the stage of our founder Martin replied that the CEO is responsible for the whole company's operation, future development, and the whole strategic layout of the company, which is a very heavy task, while the employer brand is related to the recruitment of staff and personnel layout, so it should be the HR's main responsibility as far as their duties are concerned. In order to make the brand consistent and effective, the brand manager can complement HR and help promote the company's values, products and services, as well as influence the impression of consumers, partners and potential employees. Talking with strategic partners who have been counseling enterprises on organizational management for many years, I often sigh that many HR people think their job is to calculate salary and check attendance, however, such a pattern can only be said to be personnel; real HR people should actively manage human resources and enlarge their horizons. Every HR person, instead of waiting for the CEO's request, should have such an ambition and pattern, and take the initiative to make long-term manpower planning and resource inventory, which is the second point. (For this reason, the HR team that came to the forum that day for exchange and learning was also touched by the fact that they really love the company!)
Are you a designer or an editor?
Finally, at the design workshop that ended last Friday, Martin commented on the current trends in design. He explained directly that many trends are not trends at all, but just a process of evolution, ebb and flow. The focus is on the attitude that designers should have. Every designer should be curious and discerning in mindset, and should be able to connect with brand strategies, understand the needs of the customer's experience journey, and present communication channels to help companies succeed and profit, rather than just burying their heads in the sand and making perfect work. Take a simple example, we have to design a poster for a forum event venue today, instructing guests to enter the venue to report to the line, the initial version of the designer will only put just the text pressure on the main visual, but ignored the human visual line and the purpose of the poster to read, professional designers are reminded, immediately reflect the improvement, but if the designer is only one-sidedly complaining about marketing colleagues, supervisors were not Briefing clear, and not willing to adjust, then it is really a problem, and it is not a problem. unwilling to adjust, then it really is to make their own pattern is small ..., so in the design workshop, we have been telling designers, you have the ability to have a greater ability than others can imagine, just to cope with the immediate requirements of the boss, the customer, then you are just a beauty editor; if you can further thinking, insight into the nature of the problem, for the boss, the customer to solve the Hidden pain points for the boss, the customer, then you are a competent designer. This is the third.
Every person and business is essentially a partnership.
Summarizing the above three little stories, what I want to share with you is: You are Greater than You thought. No one said that you can only stay in a small circle of comfort forever, and be a small screw day after day, we have to learn to expand our circle of comfort, be willing to learn, and reduce our I don't know! I don't know, and bravely challenge, uphold the spirit of pragmatism, soon, you will have the right to speak, the right to choose, and even become others can not be ignored Somebody. (I also often remind myself of this).
(I am truly thankful and especially touched that the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs commissioned the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research to organize the [International Brand Design Trend Seminar], inviting Process Pro brand to share the design trend and design thinking, and I look forward to the day when Taiwan's connotation of design and art can become more and more abundant, and the work of our designers can continue to be seen by the enterprises and be valued!
